Biscarosse-et-Parantis, Étang de,  
Carp to 33 kgs has been caught from this huge amount af water - covering 2850 ha - with a surprisingly little angling pressure, in light of the obvious potential for really big fish.
During the spawning season huge banks of carp can be seen in the shallows.
The most promissing parts of the lake is said to be the western bank, which cannot be fished from the bank, at it's restricted millitary area - and a boat therefore is nescessary to acces these areas.
The problem with the rest of the banks is, that it's very busy because of surfers, swimmers and boaters of all kinds.
Permits can be obtained from Restaurant des Pêcheurs on the Parentis habour and from the tackle store in Biscarosse. Many camp sites are found in the area.
Nigthfishing is allowed from may 5. til july 31. at at stretch by La Craste Montéou.

Mimizan, Le lac de Aureilhan, Mimizan,
This big, once so famous and very often heard of, big lake are not so often mentioned in the headlines any more - even though big carp are probably still present. Fish to 25 kg has been caught many years back, but it's a long time ago I last heard of 20 kg+ fish from it.
Several camping sites are present at the lake - and one of them is just adjecent to the night-stretch at the western bank.
Normally, it's recommended to try to fish to the old river bed - which is far beyond casting distance from most of the swimms, so a boat is recommended. But do not turn the blind eye to bankside activities - as the carp at times feed in very shallow water.

680 hectares not too far from the ocean and thus hit by a very regular westerly wind, holding a good head of carp averaging 7 - 10 kgs. Most of the carp in this rather shallow water are commons, but also fat mirrors to as much as 25 - 30 kg should be present - but has yet to be caught.
